The name

Rank 8: all the way across the board

In Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking-Glass, the countryside is laid out as a giant chessboard. Alice starts as a white pawn on the second rank and has to cross it square by square. When she finally reaches the eighth rank she is made a Queen — the pawn that travels the whole board earns the freedom to move anywhere on it.

That is the idea behind RankEight. A payment is a piece that has to get across a crowded board of banks, card schemes, currencies, borders and rules, one move at a time. Our job is to carry every transaction to the eighth rank: authorized, cleared, settled and reconciled, with nothing left stranded mid-board.

The number carries its own meaning too. Across Chinese, Japanese and other East Asian markets, eight reads as growth and good fortune — a fitting mark for a platform built to move money through exactly those markets.

Say it "RANK-ate". Write it as one word, RankEight, or simply Rank 8.

One integration covers online and kiosk. RankEight can also act as merchant of record, so tax and compliance are handled for you.

    Licensed partners authorize and settle; RevenueProtect scores fraud in real time. As merchant of record, RankEight also calculates and remits sales tax and VAT.
